Burton was a phenomenally successful company in the early to mid 20th century and had hundreds more stores outside of the Art Deco period of in-house designed buildings.
Some stores pre-date the Deco period and may have been later retrofitted with a familiar Burton shopfront consisting of window lights, black granite or Larvikite, and foundation stones. Others occupied modernist shopping precincts rebuilt after World War II.
