The Royal British Hotel, designed by James Macintyre Henry, was built from 1896 to 1898 and is category B listed. Burton installed a familiar Art Deco shopfront with the ‘chain of merit’ window lights listing other branch locations but this had been replaced with a modernist shopfront by the 1960s.
